Eligibility & Judging

The TAM award competition is open to all St. Louis area corporations, companies, individuals, independents, agencies or supplier/vendors who have created or produced communications directed to industry, business, students or professions. Vendor/suppliers may enter on behalf of their customers. Please note that all work not targeted primarily to a business, professional group or student customer will be disqualified except where noted (see categories and eligibility requirements). Please Call Russell Kroeker at 314.997.6333 for entry or category clarification. Entries must have been produced between June 1, 2008 and July 16, 2009.

The Judges are selected by individual BMA chapters around the country from requests by the St. Louis chapter for individual expertise in diverse disciplines.

The judging is conducted as a competition between the entrants of each individual category. Points are awarded in three areas and totaled for the entry's final score: concept, execution and results. 'Concept' and 'Execution' are subjective categories dealing with the perceived value of the idea as it relates to its target or general impact; the design, writing and printing, production value and the delivery channel used. The 'Result' scoring area is objective.

Each category has a Gold, Silver and Bronze award available to win. Each entry's final score determines the outcome. Ties are NOT allowed. In the event of a tie, the unanimous decision of the judges will determine placement. The judges' decision is final. The entry with the highest final score from categories with MORE THAN THREE entrants is awarded a Best of Class award.

Best of Show is chosen by a unanimous vote of the judges from Best in Class winners.

Entry Preparation

Print Entries and Trade Show Exhibits

Mount on medium-weight poster board with minimum 2" borders beyond the original material's dimensions. Submit color photos of trade show exhibits, mounted on boards. Brochures and collateral pieces should be slipped into pockets or sheet protectors mounted to the poster board. Affix front and back entry forms to the appropriate sides of each board for each entry. You may create your own entry form if you wish. If more than one board is used for a single entry, affix front and back entry forms to each piece and clearly mark on front, 1 of 3, 2 of 3, etc.

Electronic

All electronic categories except websites should be submitted on disc or made accessible on the web.  Affix front and back entry forms to the appropriate sides of the CD case. For better recognition at the event viewing, a photo from the CD should be delivered mounted to poster board.

For website entries, submit a color printout of the home page screen mounted on medium-weight poster board with minimum 2" borders. Affix front and back entry forms to the appropriate sides of each board. Judges will access actual sites during the judging process.

General

Complete all information on entry forms. Dimensional entries may be treated like video and CD-ROM entries rather than mounted, if preferred. Remember that business-to-consumer entries will be disqualified, except for dealer and distributor aids.

Returned Materials

You must note, in bold, your request for returned materials on the back of each entry board or object. There is a single $30 fee to return your entries, regardless of quantity.
